Black enamel and epoxy resin hardened to a surface suitable for repeated reentry. Entire belly area was finely sanded and polished to a finish evaluated as "grand piano black".

Mounting blocks were installed, followed by four 1/2' slide bolts for attachment system. Custom crossmembers were fabricated for block and bolt insertion to External Tank, providing robust lockdown in all three axes of force between components.
